„Get together“ for the manufacturing of the future

Exhibition show booth plus showroom – at two locations, DMG MORI will be presenting the latest trends in machine tool manufacturing – live and in dialog.

  • Two locations: trends in machine tool manufacturing at EMO and in the Milan showroom
  • Eleven high-tech machines, including four holistic automation solutions
  • Automation: Autonomous manufacturing solutions from a single source
  • PAYZR: Risk-free production with equipment-as-a-service and raising efficiency with software-as-a-service
  • Integrated Digitization: Process-safe manufacturing along a digitized value chain
  • World premiere NZ platform: DUE, TRE, QUATTRO – production turning with up to four turrets and four B-axes re-defined on 17.8 m²
This year, the traditional trade show appearance in the Italian metropolis is entirely shaped by the motto "Get together" – and at two locations at once: at the trade show booth in Hall 1 and in the Milan showroom of DMG MORI.

From October 4 to 9, 2021, DMG MORI welcomes visitors to the EMO in Milan. This year, the traditional exhibition appearance in the Italian metropolis is entirely shaped by the motto "Get together" – and at two locations at once: at the trade show booth in Hall 1 and in the Milan showroom of DMG MORI, where nine high-tech machine tools are exhibited, four of them as holistic automation solutions. An additional hospitality tent invites visitors to engage in dialogue with each other. Both locations will be connected via a free transfer shuttle. In this way, the machine tool manufacturer is offering numerous opportunities for intensive discussions with one another again after a long time. The technology leader will present its latest developments at both locations. The absolute highlight at both locations is the world premiere of the NZ series, with which DMG MORI is setting completely new standards in the application field of production turning. An automated NZ TRE will be presented in the showroom, while the NZ QUATTRO will attract visitors' interest at the DMG MORI booth. The new PAYZR business model for software- and equipment-as-a-service will also be a topic of conversation at EMO. This allows customers to subscribe to both machine and software solutions at low cost, without risk, flexibly and with planning flexibility. DMG MORI will demonstrate digitalization as an essential component of future-oriented production using the Digital Manufacturing Package as an example. For the presentation of innovative manufacturing solutions, the machine tool manufacturer invites interested parties to its Milan showroom, which is only about ten kilometers away and can be reached several times a day via a free transfer shuttle.

Automation: Autonomous manufacturing solutions from a single source

The exhibition includes holistic automation solutions such as the PH CELL, which offers maximum flexibility for pallets of different sizes thanks to its modular design.

As a pioneer of automated production, DMG MORI offers a total of 54 automation solutions in twelve product lines from a single source. Exemplary for this competence are four manufacturing solutions that DMG MORI will be showing live in its showroom during EMO. In the milling sector, one is the compact DMP 35 machining center with the space-saving WH 3 Cell workpiece handling system. On the other hand, the DMU 65 H monoBLOCK with a PH Cell will be on display. The pallet handling system has a modular design and can be equipped with different pallet sizes according to individual requirements. In the turning area, DMG MORI will show the flexible and easy-to-operate Robo2Go on the CLX 450 TC, a high-performance turn & mill center in the entry-level segment.

PAYZR: Risk-free production with equipment-as-a-service and raising efficiency with software-as-a-service

PAYZR stands for “PAY with Zero Risk” and was launched at the beginning of the year with the compact M1 vertical machining center in the field of equipment-as-a-service. DMG MORI's second machine to join the PAYZR portfolio is the CLX 450 TC, which was introduced this year.

“Subscription & All-In instead of investment and purchase” is DMG MORI's formula for success for the new PAYZR business model for equipment-as-a-service and software-as-a-service offerings. The central customer promise is derived from the brand. PAYZR stands for “PAY with Zero Risk” and was launched at the beginning of the year with the compact M1 vertical machining center in the field of equipment-as-a-service. The compact vertical machining center impresses in its class with its stable, monolithic design, an inline spindle with up to 12,000 min-1 and an automatic tool changer. For a monthly basic fee, customers receive the machine and an all-round carefree package for service and maintenance, for example. In addition, in a pay-per-use model, the fee is calculated based only on the machine’s actual usage – exactly according to spindle minutes. The second machine DMG MORI has added to the PAYZR portfolio is the CLX 450 TC, which was introduced this year. With the B-axis factor and equipped with a compactMASTER turn & mill spindle, the turn & mill complete machining center exhibited at EMO reduces setup and non-productive times in variant-rich production of small to medium batch sizes.

DMG MORI serves the topic of software-as-a-service with TULIP, ISTOS and WERKBLiQ. A new addition is up2parts: up2parts calculation enables automated quotation generation on the basis of artificial intelligence. Calculations and quotations can thus be created in seconds and with just a few clicks. This not only increases efficiency in work preparation, but also the success rate and thus the competitiveness of our customers in the long term, even from batch size 1. up2parts calculation is based on a company-specific database and can be used by interested parties and customers in full as part of the free product up2parts cloud basic. With unlimited storage space, machines, materials, customers and components are stored centrally there – the latter as a 3D model. A geometric similarity search automatically finds identical or similar components within a few seconds.

Integrated Digitization: Process-safe manufacturing along a digitized value chain

As a technology leader, DMG MORI is making a significant contribution to shaping the digital transformation. The group supports its customers with future-oriented solutions for the networking of machine tools and the digitization of the value chain. Users will have an optimal start in this future field with the Digital Manufacturing Package. It includes DMG MORI Connectivity for networking both DMG MORI machines and selected third-party makes, the PLC-independent update to the latest CELOS version, and the DMG MORI Messenger. DMG MORI Monitoring shows the current status of all networked machines at a glance – on the PC as well as on mobile devices. The free my DMG MORI customer portal ensures end-to-end digital service processes for DMG MORI machines, while DMG MORI NETservice enables direct remote communication with DMG MORI Service. This allows many service cases to be solved quickly and easily.

With the new NZ platform, DMG MORI is redefining production turning – with up to four turrets and four B-axes on 17.8 m2.

World premiere NZ platform: DUE, TRE, QUATTRO – production turning with up to four turrets and four B-axes re-defined on 17.8 m²

Due to the modular machine concept, the NZ platform includes the NZ DUE, NZ TRE and NZ QUATTRO. This means that two, three or four turret machining stations can be placed in the workspace.

DMG MORI will present the new NZ platform as a fascinating world premiere at EMO. The NZ TRE and NZ QUATTRO will also be on display. Available in two sizes, the new NZ platform serves for a wide range of components and performance that redefines production turning. The short version is designed for workpieces up to 690 mm in length, while on the long version the spectrum extends to 1,290 mm. Chuck machining is possible in both cases up to a diameter of ø 120 mm, and for bar machining the passage is ø 65 mm. The NZ series also surprises with its extremely compact design. Including the 3 m length bar feeder, the NZ requires only 17.8 m² of floor space.

The highlight of the NZ platform are the individual equipment options, so that every user can install a manufacturing solution tailored to their exact requirements. Due to the modular machine concept, the NZ platform includes the NZ DUE, NZ TRE and NZ QUATTRO. This means that two, three or four turret machining stations can be placed in the workspace. Each of these units can act autonomously and has a Y-axis with 80 mm travel and a B-axis with a swivel range of -10° to +100°.
