Horizontal machining centers with outstanding rigidity, precision, and speed
Equipped with a powerful 15,000 rpm spindle in their standard versions and CELOS with MAPPS V on Mitsubishi the horizontal machining centers NHX 4000 2nd Generation and NHX 5000 2nd Generation offer all the properties demanded for single part manufacture and on through to serial production.
With the NHX 5000 2nd Generation DMG MORI offers a horizontal machining center that is as compact as it is dynamic; a machine ideally suited for the manufacture of complex and demanding components and on through to highly efficient serial production, e.g. in the automotive industry or machine and plant engineering. Together with its new smaller sister machine - the NHX 4000 2nd Generation – the new NHX series now boasts a Direct Drive Table (DDM technology) with speeds of up to 100 rpm as option and direct distance measurement systems from MAGNESCALE in all axes in its standard versions. The construction of the machines has also been optimised with regard to the use of shorter tools. The distance from the spindle nose to the center of the pallet has been minimised to 2.8 in. thus ensuring longer tool service life and higher process stability. The new NHX 2nd Generation machines also offer all the advantages of the new joint DMG MORI design and CELOS.
The NHX 4000 2nd Generation and NHX 5000 2nd Generation continue in the footsteps of the NHX 4000, whose long-standing success on the market derives from its perfect combination of functionality, productivity and precision. The NHX machine concept is based on the successful NH series with its more than 6,000 machines installed worldwide.
The range of workpieces that can be handled by the 400-pallet
NHX 4000 2nd Generation includes parts with diameters of up to ø24.8 in. and heights of 35.4 in. The NHX 4000 2nd Generation includes components with an extremely high degree of accuracy and efficiency in its 22 x 22 x 26 in. (in X x Y x Z) work area. NHX 5000 2nd Generation includes 29 x 29 x 35 in. work area of the larger 500-pallet sister machine has space for workpieces with heights of up to 39 in. and widths of ø 31 in.
The high precision demanded of the horizontal machining centers goes hand-in-hand with impressive ratings for speed and dynamics. The rapid traverse rate is 2,362.2 ipm in the standard version with acceleration rates of up to 1,2 g. Chip-to-chip times are just 2.2 seconds and the Direct Drive Table (DDM) with a speed of up to 100 rpm ensures the shortest possible positioning times.
The new NHX series now boasts a Direct Drive Table (DDM technology) with speeds of up to 100 min-1 and direct distance measurement systems from MAGNESCALE in all axes in its standard versions
In the process itself, the user has spindle speeds of 15,000 rpm with a torque of 152.7 ft. lbs. available in the standard version. The modular building blocks of the new NHX models also include a high-speed version that achieves a speed of up to 20,000 rpm.
In addition the new DMG MORI design and CELOS with MAPPS guarantee maximum user-friendliness, because CELOS from DMG MORI simplifies and accelerates the process from the idea to the finished product, while CELOS APPs enable consistent management, documentation and visualisation of job, process and machine data. CELOS also links workshop and higher-level company structures thus creating the basis for consistent digitalised and paperless production.
In addition, CELOS is compatible with PPS and ERP systems; it can be networked with CAD / CAM applications and is ready for trendsetting CELOS APP expansions. So CELOS is already smoothing the user’s path towards Industry 4.0 and is the unique link between high-tech from DMG MORI and ad-hoc networked, decentralised, realtime-based and self-optimising production and logistics systems.
With a multitude of options DMG MORI offers its customers the chance of adapting the NHX 4000 2nd Generation and NHX 5000 2nd Generation individually to meet their own specific needs. These options also include diverse automation solutions. The horizontal machining centers, for example, can be equipped with a round pallet pool system (RPP) that excels with its low space requirement and outstanding setup features. The DMG MORI systems also offer the option of integrating a carrier pallet pool system (CPP) or a linear pallet pool system (LPP).
Highlights of the NHX 4000 2nd Generation and NHX 5000 2nd Generation
- High machine dynamics for shortest possible chip-to-chip times of up to 2.2 sec. (NHX 4000): NHX 4000 = 1.2 g / 1.2 g / 1.2 g, NHX 5000 = 1.0 g / 1.2 g / 0.9 g;
up to 60 m/min rapid traverse, in the standard versions;
60% higher dynamic stability - Maximum machining performance thanks to the new speedMASTER spindle: 15,000 rpm with 152.7 ft. lbs in the standard version; 15,000 rpm with 184.3 ft. lbs. as a high-torque version and 20,000 rpm high-speed version available as options
- Direct Drive Table (DDM) (as option)with up to 100 rpm for the shortest possible positioning times of 0.73 sec. for the NHX 4000, or 0.94 sec. for the NHX 5000
