Young talent thanks to future-oriented training
From programming software and tool presetting to state-of-the-art CNC machines - INGUN has brought its training workshop up to the latest state of the art with the comprehensive DMG MORI Academy offer.
Printed circuit boards, batteries, cells and many other components of electrical and electronic products must be regulary contacted and checked regularly during the manufacturing process. Since 1971, INGUN Prüfmittelbau GmbH from Constance has been developing tailor-made solutions for precisely this tasks. The sales network extends across 65 countries. With 450 employees worldwide, INGUN is the leading provider and development partner in this field for numerous companies from future-oriented industries - from automotive to telecommunications. INGUN promotes its strong and sustainable growth by investing in production and personnel. The most recent example of this is the training workshop. With the support of the DMG MORI Academy, a modern environment has been created here that optimally prepares ten new junior employees every year for quality-oriented work in production. Both conventional turning and milling machines as well as a CMX 600 V and a CTX alpha 500 are available to the trainees.
Good training as a guarantee of quality
High-performance contacting and testing technology has always played a decisive role in the rapid development of innovative technologies. "With our products, we ensure that manufacturers in communication electronics, electromobility and many other industries bring functional, reliable products to the market," explains Holger Schäffer, Technical Training Manager at INGUN, who is responsible for training in mechanical production. This technology includes individual test adapter kits, contact probes in numerous variants and a wide range of accessory components. "The development and manufacture of our products requires extensive know-how and production technologies that meet the high quality standards. That's why training is so important to us."
DMG MORI Academy: Close cooperation with educational institutions and training workshops
INGUN lays the foundations for this expertise in its modern training workshop. "Our aim is to train our junior staff to perfection so that they can reliably meet our high standards in production once they have completed their training," says Holger Schäffer. This requires good framework conditions, which INGUN has improved once again with the modernized workshop. He has already worked with DMG MORI machines from his time as a vocational schoolteacher. He has also been familiar with the DMG MORI Academy since then. It supports both educational institutions and training workshops with innovative concepts, products and services: from machine tools and software solutions to teaching materials. Thanks to this positive experience, the trainees at INGUN now benefit from this range of services.
From conventional milling to the CTX alpha 500 with CELOS
"The comprehensive offer was an ideal solution for us to bring the training workshop up to date with the latest technology," recalls Holger Schäffer. The focus was on the existing CMX 600 V vertical machining center and a CTX alpha 500. The universal lathe is part of the Industry 4.0 training package at the DMG MORI Academy. Among other things, it includes CELOS for corresponding Industry 4.0 applications, training courses and programming and training software. The latter allows trainees to create their programs conveniently at PC workstations and then - thanks to networking - call them up on the CNC machines. In addition, the trainees work largely paperless. The drawings are displayed on tablets, for example.
NEF 360 LZ and FP4 M Special Edition for conventional machining training
As a full-service provider and sole contact for INGUN, DMG MORI has also installed Haimer equipment for tool presetting and shrinking in the training workshop. "Here, too, everything is networked so that the data is immediately available on the machines," explains Holger Schäffer. This applies on the one hand to the two CNC machines and on the other hand to the conventional turning and milling machines. Two NEF 360 LZ and three FP4 M Special Edition are the trainees' introduction to machining.
Attractive working environment for young talents
One might assume that INGUN would have difficulties recruiting young talent in times of a shortage of skilled workers. However, Holger Schäffer is satisfied: "Word has already got around in the region that we offer good training and have a pleasant work atmosphere. In addition, there are regular short-term internships in which interested pupils can discover a possible apprenticeship in machining technology for themselves." DMG MORI's advanced CNC technology also leaves a positive impression here. "We assume that we can continue to take on ten trainees every year to cover our demand for skilled workers."
DMU 40 for 5-axis training
INGUN will continue its close cooperation with the DMG MORI Academy. "We are currently adding another room to our training workshop. This will create space for future new acquisitions," says Holger Schäffer, looking ahead to the DMU 40. "We can use a 5-axis universal machine to prepare our trainees for what has long been standard in machining and will become increasingly important in the future."
