Founded as a small machine workshop in 1979, Femec AG from Wetzikon in Switzerland has been active in additive manufacturing since 2014. The company installed a LASERTEC 30 SLM from DMG MORI here in 2017. Femec produces complex components for general machine and plant construction, the automotive industry and jewellery designers in the powder bed of the machine. The workpieces are also finished on the premises of the experienced metal-cutting service provider – among other machines on a CTX beta 2000 TC also from DMG MORI. The comprehensive range offered by the machine tool manufacturer and the innovative concept in powder bed technology were decisive reasons for the purchase of the LASERTEC 30 SLM.

“Additive manufacturing is gaining in importance – even in toll manufacture”, claims Marc Zimmermann. He manages Femec AG in the second generation, together with his wife Marlen Zimmermann. “That is why we have expanded our production options in this direction.” He speaks from experience, because the volume of orders has increased continuously since the investment in powder bed technology. “With our experience in metal-cutting we cover the entire process of metal 3D printing right through to final finishing.” That is exactly what makes additive manufacture such a key differentiating factor. “Even other suppliers in additive manufacturing trust in our finishing expertise.”
