Wernau (Neckar) is a town in the district of Esslingen in Baden-Württemberg and belongs to the Stuttgart region, which is characterized by the automotive industry. The proximity to the terraced vineyards of the Esslinger Neckarhalde with their steep slopes also characterize the townscape. The city of Wernau is currently home of approx. 12,500 residents. Located directly on the Neckar and on the edge of the “Wernauer Baggerseen” nature reserve, Wernau shines with beautiful residential areas, with lots of green in the city for sports and relaxation right on the doorstep. The city is located in the Neckar valley on the border to the Stuttgart metropolitan area with all its advantages in terms of work, education and also culture and leisure time. Wernau enjoys the geographical advantage of being directly connected to the arteries in the Stuttgart region via the B 313 and B 30 federal roads and the A8 motorway as well as the S 1 S-Bahn line. Short distances to the Stuttgart Exhibition Center and the airport make the city particularly interesting.

8 companies of the DMG MORI Group are located at the DMG MORI location in Wernau and 135 people are currently employed at the location. The building area covers a total of 10,000 square meters. Central departments such as Global Engineering, Sales Support Team, Global Service, Training Academy, DMQP and DMG MORI Finance are located in the administration building (more details can be found here: https://www.dmgmori-finance.com). The Magnescale subsidiary is located in the annex building – a manufacturer of high-precision magnetic measuring systems. The product range includes linear and rotary direct measuring systems, which are used at DMG MORI, as well as digital probes and displays.

Machines of the latest generation were exhibited inside the 900m2 showroom - from universal lathes, turn & mill and production turning to horizontal machining centres with corresponding automation solutions as well as grinding machines from Taiyo Koki. The showroom with at least 12 machines is permanently available for machine demonstrations, customer trials and customer acceptance tests as well as for internal and external training courses. The latest products from the Japanese production plants are located in Wernau. Many machines are equipped with automation solutions such as IMTR, Robo2Go or MATRIS light. Directly adjacent to the demonstration room is a fully equipped tool room with all the equipment and facilities required for optimum machining. Here, the proximity to the tool partners is also a guarantee for success. Furthermore, two ZEISS measuring machines with and without integrated rotary table are available in the measuring room to qualify the workpieces from the demonstration room and acceptance tests.

The Engineering Department in Wernau plays a central role in supporting Japanese plants in Europe. It can be seen as an "extended" factory arm and supports holistically the product portfolio from Japan in the fields of Automation Solutions, Technology and Digitization. This support is done towards customers and suppliers and of course to all colleagues in the local sales and service locations and plants.

From 2016 on, the DMG MORI Medical Excellence Center has been supporting customers in the design and implementation of production solutions for medical technology applications. Since DMG MORI has already successfully offered this support in Seebach, Chicago and Shanghai, Wernau now follows as a fourth location, where the many years of experience and industry-specific expertise come together.

Basically, the reason for the global positioning of the Medical Excellence Centers is that we want to be always as close to the customer as possible. This was also a key argument in favor of Wernau as a further location. Medical technology is traditionally very strongly represented around Tuttlingen and also in Switzerland. Both regions are within a radius of less than two hours.
